Achieve UC
Achieve UC's Early Academic Outreach Program (EAOP) works with students in more than 150 schools, including John Muir High School. 

Caltech Y Rise Tutoring Program
The Rise Program is a low-cost afterschool math and science-focused tutoring program that serves public school students between grades 8 and 12. Students must attend 2 days a week. The tutoring is provided by Caltech undergraduate and graduate students. The program is designed to help students gain greater competency in math foundations, improve skills in math and science and prepare students for college-level math and science. 

College Access Plan
Working closely with counselors and teachers, CAP has developed a comprehensive program that works in partnership with schools to add meaningful and individualized college readiness support that is open to all students, regardless of when their “I want to go to college” lightbulb might turn on

Outward Bound Adventures
OBA uses the wilderness, urban communities and classroom settings to teach youth and families about the natural world. OBA engages them in long-term outdoor initiatives and environmental learning activities that promote self-mastery, accountability, health and community service.

Police Activities League
The PAL Center offers an array of activities designed to enhance the educational, athletic, and artistic experience of young people. PAL continuously strives to realize its mission to “Encourage Pasadena Area Youth to be Good Citizens through a Partnership with the Pasadena Police Department.” The goal is to reach youth at an early age in support of their development by fostering positive attitudes toward authority figures, while providing a safe and stable environment after school to do homework, socialize and participate in structured summer activities.

Upward Bound
Upward Bound is a program for high school students who may need assistance to do well in high school and get into college.  Please click here for the Upward Bound Math-Science opportunities.

Young and Healthy
Young & Healthy’s mission is to provide access to high-quality health care for uninsured and underserved children and families, to improve the quality of life for all children in the greater Pasadena area through prevention, education, and enhanced health care services. Young and Healthy is partnering with John Muir High School to train staff on Trauma Informed Care.
